Eldik Bank becomes the first bank in Kyrgyzstan to sign a memorandum with Tencent (WeChat)

Eldik Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tencent during the Shaanxi Silk Road Expo, becoming the first and only bank in Kyrgyzstan to establish such cooperation within the WeChat ecosystem.

The signing marks a new stage in economic and digital cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China. In recent years, bilateral trade, tourism flows, and cross-border financial transactions have shown steady growth. Additional momentum is driven by the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, which is forming a key transport and logistics corridor in the region.

A key area of partnership will be the integration of QR payments between OJSC “Eldik Bank” and WeChat Pay. This will enable Eldik app users to pay for goods and services in China, while WeChat Pay users will be able to make seamless payments across Kyrgyzstan, creating a unified and convenient payment environment for individuals, tourists, and businesses.

The parties are also exploring the development of cross-border transfers and settlements in national currencies, including the Chinese yuan, which is particularly relevant amid growing trade turnover between the two countries.

Cooperation with Tencent provides access to advanced fintech solutions and international expertise in digital payments, laying the foundation for a long-term strategic partnership.

Currently, the Eldik Bank delegation is participating in the Shaanxi Silk Road Expo. As part of the forum, Board Member Aidzhan Karieva presents the Bank, its operations, and its investment potential.

In addition, several meetings were held with China Construction Bank to discuss joint solutions for businesses in Kyrgyzstan and China.

Kyrgyzstan continues to strengthen its role as a platform for regional cooperation in Central Asia. In this context, Eldik Bank acts as a reliable financial partner, building a digital financial bridge between Kyrgyzstan and China.
