The national competition “ESG Leader” has been launched in Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz Republic has officially announced the launch of the national competition “ESG Leader” based on the results of 2025. The initiative is aimed at promoting and advancing sustainable development principles among small and medium-sized enterprises.

The competition is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Eldik Bank OJSC, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the international payment system Mastercard.

The competition seeks to identify and support small and medium-sized businesses that integrate ESG approaches into their operations, including environmental responsibility, social engagement, and the development of transparent corporate governance.

Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses from across Kyrgyzstan are invited to participate, regardless of industry. The main requirement is the presence of implemented projects or initiatives in the field of sustainable development.

The competition features three nominations:
— “Best Climate Project of the Year”
— “Sustainable Innovation of the Year”
— “Best Green Project in Women’s Entrepreneurship”

Applications will be evaluated based on several key criteria, including the business’s contribution to addressing climate challenges, level of innovation, social impact, scalability potential, and financial sustainability of the proposed initiatives.

To participate, applicants must submit an online application describing their company’s activities and the proposed solution within the selected nomination. Shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to present their initiatives to an expert panel.

At the end of the competition, one winner will be selected in each nomination. The monetary prize for each winner is 150,000 KGS.

Application period: from June 15 to July 15, 2026.

The official award ceremony will be held as part of a formal event with the participation of all contestants, representatives of government bodies, international organizations, and the business community.

The “ESG Leader” competition aims to foster a culture of responsible business practices in Kyrgyzstan and to encourage the adoption of sustainable solutions that contribute to the long-term development of the economy and society.
