Eldik Bank continues to expand Islamic banking across the regions of Kyrgyzstan

As part of the implementation of the Concept for the Development of the Islamic Economic Platform in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023–2027, approved by an order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and in order to further develop Islamic banking across the regions of the country, meetings were held last week in the Batken and Osh regions between representatives of the Islamic Window of OJSC “Eldik Bank” and representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan (DUMK).

The events were attended by Abibilla Aji Kaдырбердиев, member of the Sharia Council; Ester Aymukambetov, Head of the Islamic Window; Arstanbek Anarbaev, Director of the Batken branch of OJSC “Eldik Bank”; as well as Muratali Aji Mamadiyar uulu, representative of the Mufti in the Batken region; Sultanali Aji Gapurov, representative of the Mufti in the Osh region; Samidin Qary Atabaev, representative of the Mufti in the city of Osh; staff of the regional and Osh city offices of DUMK; and imam-khatibs from districts, regions, and the city of Osh.

The main purpose of the meetings was to discuss the principles and instruments of Islamic finance in accordance with Shariah norms and the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic. During the meetings, special attention was paid to the role of spiritual leaders in improving the population’s financial literacy, to informing citizens about Shariah-compliant financial products, as well as to developing mechanisms for long-term cooperation between the Bank and DUMK. Participants also exchanged experiences and discussed joint approaches to educational outreach among the population.
