Eldik Bank Becomes First Financial Institution from Kyrgyzstan to Speak at UN Global Compact Leaders Summit
Eldik Bank became the first financial institution from Kyrgyzstan to speak at the panel session titled “Central Asia – The New Silk Road to Sustainable Development”, held during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit as part of the 80th Anniversary Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This participation highlighted Eldik Bank’s role as a recognized leader in the region and confirmed its significant contribution to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The panel discussion brought together business leaders, policymakers, and investors from five regional countries, along with other participants of the UN General Assembly Week 2025. The session addressed the strategic potential of Central Asia as a bridge between East and West, as well as new opportunities in green finance, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure.
Speaking on behalf of Eldik Bank, Deputy Chairwoman of the Management Board, Aichurek Zhakypova, emphasized the unique importance of Kyrgyzstan as a country with the largest hydropower potential in the region.
She noted that Eldik Bank is currently a driving force behind Kyrgyzstan’s green transformation—an initiator and enabler of sustainable change. The Bank represents a full-fledged financial-digital ecosystem, uniting subsidiaries in telecommunications, investment, and leasing. It actively promotes green financial products, develops renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, supports women entrepreneurs, and finances both major infrastructure initiatives and small and medium-sized businesses.
During her speech, Zhakypova also announced the Bank’s plans to issue $300 million worth of Eurobonds on the London Stock Exchange in 2026. The proceeds will be directed toward green projects, strategic infrastructure development, and expansion of the Bank’s digital ecosystem.
“Eldik Bank is proud to be the voice of Central Asia on the international stage of the UN Global Compact. This is a unique opportunity for us to showcase our commitment to responsible business practices and to share our goals and plans for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Zhakypova.
Eldik Bank’s participation in the panel session was a meaningful contribution to enhancing the international reputation of both the Bank and Kyrgyzstan as a whole, underscoring the country’s role in implementing the global sustainable development agenda. It is also worth noting that the Bank is a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Asia Office of the UN Global Compact.
