Meeting of representatives of the Islamic Window of OJSC “Eldik Bank” and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan

As part of the implementation of the Concept for the Development of the Islamic Economic Platform in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023–2027, approved by a decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and with the aim of the systematic development of Islamic finance in the regions of the country, meetings were held in the Issyk-Kul region between representatives of the Islamic Window of OJSC “Eldik Bank” and representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan for the Issyk-Kul region.

The meetings were attended by Chairman of the Sharia Council of OJSC “Eldik Bank” Denis Pyshkin, Head of the Bank’s Islamic Window Ester Aimukambetov, Director of the Issyk-Kul branch of the Bank Kylchbek Sorombaev, Representative of the Muftiate of Kyrgyzstan in the Issyk-Kul region Arpidin ajy Zhoroev, staff of the regional office of SAMK, as well as imam-khatibs of districts and cities of the Issyk-Kul region.

The objectives of the meetings were to discuss the principles and instruments of Islamic finance in the context of Sharia norms and the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, to jointly consider the role of religious leaders in improving the financial literacy of congregants, to develop mechanisms for long-term partnership between SAMK and the Bank in informing the population about Sharia-compliant financial products, to exchange experience, and to develop joint approaches to public awareness activities.

Following the meetings, representatives of OJSC “Eldik Bank” presented participants with informational materials explaining the principles of Islamic financial products and expressed hope that these meetings would contribute to greater accessibility of Islamic financial products for the population of the region and serve as a foundation for long-term institutional cooperation between SAMK and the Bank.
